Hi, lovelies!
I’m so excited to say Wicked Ways has been out for a month now, and it’s been great and nerve wracking, all in one. 😩
Also, content warning for this email: Emotions and personal growth. 👀
I will probably always be feeling all of these feelings when releasing a new book, and I choose to believe it’s because I care. Because I pour my heart and soul into every word and character.
It’s still surreal to me that I have two books on my coffee table right now. Two very real books, just like the ones I’ve been buying from bookstores for years, and they’re my books. With my name on them. I thought of the characters. Their stories. Their personalities. I wrote them. And then I rewrote them. Made a cover. And rewrote them again. And then someone else, my amazing beta crew, helped me tweak it again, until the final edits were done. And then there was formatting. Marketing.
Oh, marketing… Why did no one tell me becoming an author meant marketing my own books 24/7? 😭😂
The point is…two years ago-me would laugh if I went back to tell her I finally did it. I was full of anxiety, depression and a few other struggles that made it impossible for me to even think about daring to hit that “publish” button.
But one day I just did it. And I’m so damn proud of myself for it. 🖤
And I’m very thankful to every single one of you out there who have, or want to, give any of my books a chance. You’re all amazing.
So…What have I been up to since release? 🌻
My day job is hectic, and it will only get more hectic toward the Holidays. Time to write has been scarce, but I’m currently 40K words into Fall Into Obsession, and I rounded 10K words on my other WIP today. 👀 Slow and steady wins the race!
But…this means it might take me some time to get back into full-speed writing mode. Both projects are coming in 2026, though, don’t worry. 🤭
I have bought some new books I’m planning on reading and rereading before New Year’s as well:
King of Darkness and Sometimes He Loves Me by Sherilyn Alyssa. I will instantly buy anything she writes at this point.
The Colour of Revenge by Olivia Jane. I’m soooo excited to read this one.
He Followed Me First by Eleanor Crowe. This one just looks like it will be soso good.
All three of these authors are awesome, and I recommend you go follow them on all socials, so you can catch up on their books, if you haven’t already! 🖤
I can’t wait.
I’ll be taking a break from the newsletter in December at least, to give myself, and you guys, some breathing room. So happy Holidays to you all!
I’ll be back with more teasers and plans in 2026 😈
Until then—stay dark and obsessed.
C. J. 🖤
